Our unity in Christ and our shared mission quickly built new friendships and deepened previous acquaintances. An over-arching feeling expressed by many was how much they felt loved, appreciated and valued.
They arrived on Monday at the conference center overlooking a lake on the Kosovo/Albania border in the Balkan region. These pastors, church planters, ministry leaders and their spouses from Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia make up a beautiful standout minority of Christ’s committed followers.
A friend recently commented that wherever Shepherds’ Support goes, “unity seems to be a result”. In contrast, when I look around our world today what stands out is divisiveness. Name the area (politics, sports, climate, identity, where you shop….), everything is pushed to be divisive.
Dogs, Cats and Mice (or brothers and sisters from a diversity of theological persuasions) actually can work together well when we put Jesus first! Armenians are warm, friendly people with a deep sense of their history and a strong national identity. Christians in Armenia for years have been praying for God to bring unity to the body of Christ….
One definition of ordained is “a predetermined plan and outcome.” That is how each day, conversation and relationship felt during our Colombia Pastoral Couples Training last week. It was clear that God had a plan for each teaching session, each team member and each couple who attended. It was beautiful to watch unfold!
