Eastern Europe – March 2022

Faith in the midst of War!

The crisis in Ukraine is not a far away news story for us in Shepherds’ Support. It is causing heartbreaking suffering for our personal friends, their families, congregations and communities. At the same time, the body of Christ throughout the region is uniting and responding in powerful ways to care for those suffering and share the hope that we have in Christ. We invite you to join us in helping our partners directly.

God is at work and the faith of our friends inspires us. One recently wrote:

“At the end of the day, we realize that we do not want to be driven by anxiety, uncertainty, fears… If we trust God, then we do it until the end and completely. We need to have faith for salvation, but there’s another side of faith – trust that we desperately need for our entire life. Faith and trust are both sides of the coin. Now our trust is being tested…. Although anything may happen, maybe in a week we become refugees too.  We keep trusting God and his amazing plan.“

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”  1 Peter 1:3-7 (ESV)

Our hope for peace in Ukraine remains firmly in Christ. He is faithfully leading our pastoral partners in response to this crisis.

We are extremely thankful for our dedicated pastoral partners throughout Eastern Europe that are responding to the needs of people first in prayer and then in thoughtful and direct ways. They are setting up Help Centers, distributing food and medicine, caring for refugees and sharing the hope of the Gospel. To aide them in their ministry during this unique time, we have set up the “Eastern Europe Pastor’s Relief Fund.

This fund will be used to go directly to these long-term, trusted partners so they can continue to be the loving hands and feet of Christ to both those who remain and those who are forced to flee. The full amount of these donations will go to our partner’s efforts in Eastern Europe.

Ways You Can Pray!

  1. Continue to join our partners in Ukraine and throughout the region in praying for peace, protection, wisdom and faith.  May the powerful presence of God surround and uphold them daily!
  2. Please also pray with us as we finalize our preparations for the Ethiopia Conference.  We leave on March 31st with a team of six that includes Jim and Arline Parris, Scott Johnson and John McNally from Fellowship Bible church in Tulsa.

Thank you for joining us in prayer and support for these faithful ministry partners throughout Eastern Europe.

May Christ be magnified in the midst of darkness!
