Conference preparation and Leadership Development

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”  Luke 6:47-48

Laying a strong foundation is not only smart architecture, it is also true for Christ followers who want to hear and obey God’s leading in their lives.  The fruit of a strong foundation is usually not seen immediately, however a well built foundation will support both future growth and challenges.  Laying a careful foundation is especially true for Shepherds’ Support as the Lord continues to create new opportunities and expand the ministry.

Encouraging Pastoral Couples

This past week, Diana and I enjoyed seeing the Lord continue to lay a foundation for our future ministry in Perú and Latin America.  Our partners, Pastor William and Ruth, did a great job sharing our core values and the key elements of our training with Pastor Ruben and his wife, Rosa, who will be hosting our next training conference near Cusco in February.  A foundation stone carefully laid.

In preparation for the training, we invited 30 regional pastoral couples for a romantic dinner on Friday.  No one had ever invited them to an event like this in the past and many told us how encouraged they were by our time together.  Another foundation stone carefully laid.

Strategic Planning for Perú and the Region

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Ps 127:1

A highlight of the trip was a full day of strategic planning that we led with five of the couples who form “Matrimonios de Gozo” (Joyful Marriages), our sister organization in Perú.  It was very encouraging to see the Lord unite the team, affirm their commitment, clarify their vision and begin to develop a regional strategy for Perú and Latin America. There is much work still to do, but this was another foundation stone carefully laid.

Ways you can pray!

  1. Praise the Lord with us for a very encouraging trip. He blessed the pastoral couples. He directed our plans. He kept us safe and led us each day.
  2. Thank you Lord Jesus! Please pray for God’s sustaining grace and provision for these ministry leaders who continually sacrifice so much for God’s Kingdom mission.
  3. Pray for the ongoing preparations and for the formation of the teaching team for our February training in Cusco.
  4. Finally, pray for God to lead pastor William and Ruth and the Matrimonios de Gozo team as they continue to develop the ministry throughout Perú and Latin America.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support.  Our greatest desire was to seek the Lord through each of these days so that He might continue to lay a strong foundation for the future.

We are so grateful for God’s presence and leading!
