Abiding in Christ: Finding Peace in Busy Times

Jesus warns us in John 15 “”apart from me you can do nothing.” Those are pretty strong words. Obviously, we can do many things apart from doing them according to the divine leading of Christ in our lives. However, Jesus’ warning is meant to help us recognize that when we act in our own power, authority or volition, we will not produce lasting fruit. Therefore, we must abide in Him, just as the branch must abide or remain in the vine to bear fruit.

I find this especially difficult during busy times in life. How about you? Abiding in Christ requires an ongoing intentionality to spend time with Him every day, no matter how busy my schedule may be.

Abiding across barriers – When we abide in Christ, He breaks down the dividing walls that separate us.  We are no longer Jew or Gentile, man or woman, Ukrainian or Russian. We are one in Christ!  (Galatians 3:28, Romans 12:5). Amazing unity is experienced when we abide in Christ and recognize His purposes above everything else.

Next week, our key leaders from eight countries will be meeting in Albania as an Eastern European Leadership Team. We will seek the Lord together to strengthen our relationships, unify our cooperation and further develop our national and regional strategies and plans. Our desire is to better serve one another and advance God’s Kingdom as we care for and strengthen pastoral couples and ministry leaders.  Will you please join us in prayer?

  1. Pray that we would abide deeply with Christ everyday despite the fast pace of life.  May our trust and joy rest in Christ above all else!
  2. Give thanks to the Lord for His presence and Spirit’s leading throughout our time in Peru. He spoke mightily through His Word to all of us. Pray that the pastoral couples would apply what He taught them in their lives, marriages and ministries.
  3. Pray that all of our Eastern European Team members might arrive safely in Albania. Pray that we might enjoy abiding with Christ together and that the Lord would clearly reveal His plans and assignments to us.
