Finding Level Ground

Finding Level Ground

Illness, fear, adjustment, adaptation and redemption are just a few of the words I would use to describe the rocky road of 2020. When our world is shaken, we all seek level ground.

A friend at a recent meeting of Latin American leaders shared these words from Psalm 143:10

“Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Let your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.”

How has God been leading you on level ground?

Here are some ways God has been teaching our partners and leading their ministries on level ground through the shaken world of Covid:

From our partners in Belarus – We started learning to live with change and uncertainty, nurturing trust in God everyday of our lives and remembering how short our life is. Coronavirus has reinforced our prayer life as we felt the great need to pray for the sick, the frightened, those who mourn, for families and healthcare workers.

Belarus

From our partners in Cuba – We’ve been learning how important it is for a community that the church is present in the middle of something like this. Now, we are placing more emphasis on people than programs.

Cuba

From our partners in MoldovaWe better understand that we are temporary on this earth and everything we do should be done from the perspective of eternity. Covid has required us to be flexible in our approach to ministry.  The usual methods have been destroyed.

Moldova

From our partners in Kenya – We can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail (Proverbs 10:21) and His plan is always better.  The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped our personal relationships in unprecedented ways, forcing us to live closer together as a family.

Kenya

From our partners in Peru – We see that God is still sovereign. His work in this world has not stopped. He has given us a new perspective, but the vision is the same. Now,we are hosting conferences and reaching places where, without the current circumstances, we would never have been able to reach.

How you can be praying

Armenia/Azerbaijan – Pray for peace and an end to the fighting between these two neighboring countries.  May the Lord use our partners in both countries to share the hope of Jesus with the IDP’s (Internally Displaced Peoples) as they migrate to the cities looking for help.

SSI Strategy Weekend – We are so thankful for God’s faithful guidance and provision throughout this year.  The Lord has blessed Shepherds’ Support with a wonderful Board.  Please ask God to lead us this weekend (Oct. 16-18) as we plan and strategize for the future.

SSI Teaching Team – Pray for God’s Spirit to guide us with clarity and understanding to prepare for His plans in 2021.  Lord willing, we will have most of our SSI Teaching Team together in San Antonio on November 11-15 for a special time of equipping for the future.

We can’t thank you enough for your faithful prayer and financial support throughout this year. Together we continue to encourage, equip and engage ministry leaders to impact their communities for Christ.

May the Lord lead you on level ground as you walk by faith and trust Him,
